FASHION WEEK FOUNDER TO STEP DOWN

AFTER 17 years, Dame Pieter Stewart has decided to step down as Managing Director of NZFW.

At the end of NZFW 2015 Stewart will leave her current role but plans to continue part-time as a Consulting Director.

NZFW Brand Manager, Myken Stewart will also be leaving her role and is currently in the process of transitioning someone into the role to oversee the sponsorship process in 2016.

“Over the past 15 years, Myken and I have built a strong core team around us, a team of dynamic and passionate professionals, many of whom have been involved with the event for a number of years,” said Stewart.

In stepping down from her role, Stewart will continue to pursue other endeavours relating to the industry, including the formation of a Fashion Council for New Zealand, already having been in touch with both the Australian Fashion Chamber and British Fashion Council. The need for a Fashion Council in New Zealand comes from Stewart’s strong belief that the industry requires strategic guidance in order to excel.

New Zealand Fashion Week starts August 24 and runs for 6 days with what looks like an incredibly strong designer line up.
