The new collaboration between Smeg and fashion giant Dolce & Gabbana is called Sicily My Love and revamps their retro-look appliances. The design makeover was completed by a team of Sicilian artists from the Italian fashion house. The range highlights 100 exclusive hand painted FAB28 fridges with stunning Dolce & Gabbana art. The collaboration celebrates the rich and decorative tradition of Italy and the summer season. Lemons, the trinacria symbol, classic floral motifs, cart wheels, medieval knights, and even battle scenes can be found on the pieces. All of which are distinctive elements of the poetic marionette theatre and the Sicilian Cart as well as important aspects of the Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana aesthetic. It really is the ultimate collection of one-of-a-kind products that combine Smeg's quality and technology with Dolce & Gabbana's creativity and masterful artisanal craftsmanship.
Although the two brands come from very different industries, they both share a 'Made in Italy' excellence. The two also share a deep respect for tradition and their respective creativity allows them to combine different eras, specialties, and sensibilities. The beautiful new appliances will be on display at Milan's annual design show, Salone del Mobile, from 12-17th April.
