Julian Danger

Amy-Rose Goulding created her first collection for Julian Danger in 2009 however Julian Danger was an organic progression well before this date with study, work experience and Amy-Rose’s natural confidence all building towards the brand. Amy-Rose has learnt from the best. Her mother and grandmother sew and pattern make and she also did her own pattern making course at Otago and completed a broad degree majoring in Communication, Design and Film. Julian Danger is a brave womenswear and menswear brand and this reflects the intrepidness of its designer. For a university project Amy-Rose went to China to research manufacturers, which led to her garments now being hand made in a community in China. What Amy-Rose loves about fashion is the opportunity every new season to re-create a whole new image and conception. She is inspired by the positive responses she gets from her collections, whether in the press or personal, and she uses this as feedback for evolving her styles. International fabric shows are also a huge inspiration for Amy-Rose and even though she enjoys this hive of activity the full on rush time when completing a collection is her least favourite thing in fashion. Julian Danger is a youthful brand that plays to the romanticism and spirit of forging your own way, both in mixing inspiration and in mixing one’s own mentality.
