A strong line-up of established and emerging designers has been announced for the 2016 New Zealand Fashion Week which will be held at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre from Monday 22 August to Sunday 28 August.
Along with the list of designers was the announcement that Harman Grubisa, run by design duo Madeleine Harman and Jessica Grubiša, are this year's recipient of the Mercedes-Benz Presents accolade as well as being the official opening show set to happen on the Monday night.
“We have the utmost admiration for the Mercedes-Benz Presents designers and accolade, and feel honoured to be joining such an esteemed list of talent”, said Grubiša. “It’s wonderful to be partnering with a brand that shares the same core values of innovation and premium craftsmanship.”
The accolade is part of a global initiative which recognises designers who demonstrate dedication to the use of high-quality materials, innovative design nd unique style and includes designers Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Badgely Mischka, Dame Trelise Cooper, and Kate Sylvester.
All the while, New Zealand Fashion Week continues to grow each year, with 2016 seeing a second New Generation show added to the schedule which will include designers Erik Yvon, Mitchell Vincent, AO Label, Campbell Luke, Motel Bible, Kendall Watt, and Danielle Power-Silk.
“This year sees a particularly strong group of emerging, new generation, and graduate designers which New Zealand Fashion Week is incredibly proud to provide a supportive platform which this next generation of talent can launch their careers,” said Dame Pieter Stewart, founder, New Zealand Fashion Week.
