DHL’S NEXT-DAY DELIVERY NOW IN MALAYSIA

World-renowned courier company Deutsche Post DHL Group has announced a new e-commerce partnership with shopping platform Shopee.

Shopee is the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan. The DHL partnership will allow them to offer next-day delivery of goods across Malaysia.

The move comes after the successful integration of DHL’s e-commerce logistics services with Shopee’s Thailand platform.

Partnering with DHL means Shopee sellers will have an incentive to ship their goods via the multi-national delivery service, as many buyers will be interested in next-day delivery.

"Eighty percent of consumers consider delivery part of their online shopping experience,” explained Kiattichai Pitpreecha, Managing Director of DHL eCommerce’s Southeast Asia branch. Seventy percent would not shop with a retailer after a bad delivery experience.

Shopee’s Head of Operations Esten Mok had similar feelings about the importance of delivery in the online shopping experience. "The e-commerce industry cannot exist without a strong and efficient logistics system,” he insisted. “As a platform with over ten million users and a rapidly growing user base, it is essential for us to continuously evolve to meet users' changing demands.” The partnership with DHL strengthens Shopee’s value for users, who will benefit from the new suite of services.

DHL eCommerce is planning to grow its ServicePoint footprint in Malaysia – these are drop points for people to leave packages for delivery. DHL hopes to have over a thousand ServicePoints in the country in the coming months to offer greater choice, control, and convenience to sellers.

There are DHL ServicePoints located across Malaysia, but sellers with a large number of goods can arrange for a pick-up from their location.

Vysia Yong Vee Ysia, Head of Digital & Ecommerce at L'Oreal Malaysia, was enthused by the partnership and the innovation. "As a leading fast-moving consumer goods brand, we have seen how Malaysia's e-commerce scene has evolved tremendously over the past years,” she stated. “We understand that consumer needs and preferences are very different when shopping online…and the integration of DHL eCommerce with Shopee will definitely help us serve our customers better.”

To mark the start of the partnership, Shopee and DHL will be holding a free shipping promotion, with a minimum spend of RM35.
