DONNA KARAN STEPS DOWN

donna-takes-a-bowPioneer of the modern working women’s style, Donna Karan has stepped down from her role as designer at her namesake brand.

The decision comes after lengthy discussions with LVMH executives and growing commitments to her new venture Urban Zen, which promotes wellness and artisanal goods.

Immediate plans to replace Karan haven’t been made, with LVMH suspending the Donna Karan label, removing the show from NYFW and redirecting focus onto the DKNY brand, which accounts for more than 80 per cent of overall Donna Karan sales.

“LVMH and I have made this decision after much soul-searching. I have arrived at a point in my life where I need to spend more time to pursue my Urban Zen commitment to its fullest potential and follow my vision of philanthropy and commerce,” said Karan.

The decision to leave doesn’t come as a huge surprise to the industry however, following a slight hint and rumours that the relationship between Karan and LVMH was deteriorating.
