Annual footwear conference Expo Riva Schuh drew to a close yesterday, and with it, the world's footwear fashionistas departed Italy loaded up with insights on the latest trends for SS2020. Here's what to look out for.
Textures and patterns
Beach style slippers proved popular at Expo Riva Schuh, but with a twist. Plenty of crocodile-skin textures, glittery details, and flashy prints helped them stand out, even in the hot season. The python pattern returns as well as fluorescent colours, bringing a full nineties revival with them.
Big and beautiful
Heavily structured platform sneakers with very high soles and big high-heels enriched with precious inserts: the name of the game this SS20 is big, bold, and beautiful.
Natural materials
Cork, straw, and organic fabrics all featured heavily at Expo Riva Schuh, used without detracting from the style and elegance of the models - a sure sign of designers and companies showing more attention in their choices of raw materials and the processes they employ.
