Australia’s largest indigenous fashion runway ever is about to take place in Melbourne. The event is being hosted by The Indigenous Runway Project, who are committed to demonstrating and creating aspirational career paths for young indigenous people in the fashion industry.
The organisation has bought together an impressive line-up of artists, designers and industry elites to showcase their bodies of work. The presentations will be rich in culture, combining exquisite tribal culture with each designer’s unique fashionable flair.
Both men’s and womenswear collections will be on display at this year’s event, which will be held in March at The Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. The event is sure to be a highlight of the festival, as it has been developed and executed by a team of 50 dedicated and passionate indigenous people.
This programme has been operating since 2010, with over 1600 young indigenous people having taken part over the years.
