More than 100 firefighters battled a huge fire last night in Lazy Oaf's packaging and distribution warehouse in Essex. The huge blaze ripped through the building and threatened to spread further to neighbouring industrial buildings. Fifteen fire engines and a number of specialist appliances such as aerial ladders (to vary angle of fire hoses) were at the scene after a call at 12.21am. Nine hours later, the fire was still going and firefighters were still extinguishing flames and checking for hotspots.
"The warehouse, which we believe is used for packaging and distribution, contained a large amount of stock and the fire took hold very quickly," said Neil Fenwick, officer in charge. "Firefighters have done an absolutely brilliant job here this morning. They spotted the fire had started to spread to the large warehouse next door and managed to extinguish the fire very quickly and stopped the fire spreading."
Essex Fire Service said an investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the fire soon. Police said there are not believed to be any casualties.
The fire has resulted in Lazy Oaf temporarily closing their website and have posted on social media apologies and have been meet with love from their fans and customers.
