One of Australia’s most iconic footwear brands, R M Williams has been placed on the market.
The brand has been celebrated around the word in the rural footwear sector since it first launched in 1932. Rather than being in decline, the brand has seen an influx of consumers in recent years, with sales increasing from AUS $126 million in 2017 to AUS $142 million in 2018. This is, in part, due to the label’s recent push into the luxury market – which was met with great enthusiasm.
R M Williams owns over 50 retail shopfronts around the world, including fashion capitals New York and London. They also have their ranges stocked in over 500 independent retailers.
With such a large holding, the group is expected to rake in over AUS $500 million for the sale of the company. The company is currently seeking out buyers.
