With the 2018 Fashion awards quickly approaching, the British Fashion Council has named this year’s recipient of the esteemed Trailblazer award. Kim Jones, artistic director for Dior menswear has been named this year’s winner, following an impressive series of endeavours.
Kim Jones studied graphics and photography at Camberwell School of Art and attained a Fashion MA from Central Saint Martin’s, specializing in menswear. Jones went on to launch an eponymous label in 2003, collaborating with fashion houses such as Hugo Boss, Mulberry and Topman in later years. Jones has been honoured by the British Fashion Council previously, taking home the Menswear Designer of the Year award on two occasions. His latest award acts as another impressive milestone in what can only be described as a rousing career.
The British Fashion Council released a statement celebrating Jones’ new title. The council cited Jones’ “reputation for challenging the norms while respecting heritage, history, creativity and innovation,” as factors which led to his selection. The council described Jones as an excellent global ambassador for their industry.
The Fashion Awards will be held at the Royal Albert Hall, and Jones will join a host of international industry elites as he accepts this year's award.
