New Zealand brand Moochi is opening its thirteenth store in Mount Maunganui next week.
Aptly named 'Moochi Man', the new store sits at the foundation of where Moochie began - the site as the heart of the suburb, moments from the beach. It will open on June 27th.
The chain was founded 19 years ago when Kellie and Chris Taylor relocated to the Mount after travelling overseas. They operated from a small workroom on Maunganui Road and opened their first retail space on Auckland's High Street.
The new store sees the brand returning to its hometown.
“This is a very significant store for us both as it’s a real nod to our heritage. We both have so many fond memories of living at the Mount and starting the business,” said Kellie. “In the early days I would work the first half of the week in the workroom, spend Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in the shop in Auckland, drive home Saturday night and do admin on Sundays. It was hectic but I wouldn’t have done it any other way.”
