NAIL STICKER HELPS PREVENT SKIN CANCER

This tiny blue sticker connects to your phone while collecting information from your immediate environment. The app, that you need to download on your smart phone or device for it work, alerts you when you have reached your recommended sun exposure for your specific skin type. The app is designed to monitor UV exposure, the UV Sense – the sticker – sends this data straight to your smart phone or device.

Designed and developed by La Roche-Posay, early studies showed their patch positively influenced the sun safety behaviours of consumers. The same study showed that 34 percent of users applied sunscreen more often and 37 percent tried to stay in the shade more frequently. Worn on the thumbnail, each dot can store up to three months of data.

“The technology within UV Sense is groundbreaking and has so much potential to impact the future of technology and wearables,” said Guive Balooch, global vice president of L’Oréal’s Research and Innovation Technology Incubator. “Armed with research and consumer insights from the original My UV Patch, we set out to create something that blends problem-solving technology with human-centred design, offering real-time data and longer wear in a discreet product that fits any lifestyle.”

UV Sense launches globally in 2019.
