NEW CEO FOR VERSACE

Jonathan Akeroyd

After 12 years as the chief executive officer at Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Akeroyd has been named as the new CEO of Gianni Versace SpA. While the appointment is effective immediately, Akeroyd's official start date has been announced as the 6th of June.

"I look forward to implementing a long-term business strategy that supports the visionary and creative direction of Donatella Versace and her team," said Akeroyd.

The family-owned business also announced its interest in going public, looking at current market conditions and the opportunity for an IPO.

"Jonathan brings a proven track record in building global brands, steering growth and driving strategic development. His industry expertise and vision will be key to advancing the next phase of Versace's development," said Donatella Versace, vice president and artistic director.

Akeroyd replaces Gian Giacomo Ferraris, who joined the company in 2009, taking the business from a €80 million annual loss to an annual €645 million revenue.

“We are proud of our ability to attract visionary leaders. Mr. Ferraris has done a superb job of securing Versace’s status as one of the world’s leading luxury brands," said Versace.
