New Zealand’s daring runway show

Auckland Racing Club was the host of a daring runway display at the Auckland Sky Tower yesterday. A small selection of models were decked out in some of the country's most esteemed designers and took part in a runway show across the 192-meter high SKYWALK.

Participating designers included Trelise Cooper, Kathryn Wilson and Benny Castles of WORLD. The designers presented their latest racewear looks in anticipaton of New Zealand’s prestigious racewear fashion competition – The Ned Prix de Fashion. The high winds and harness restrictions were challenges for both the designers and models, but ones that were overcome resulting in a truly one of a kind display.

The Auckland General Manager at AJ Hackett Bungy, Graham Trubuhvich released a statement celebrating the successful show. “Today’s racewear fashion show marks a first for New Zealand and for SKYWALK. It is great to see a new initiative like this for Auckland Cup Week, and we are proud of all the models who were brave enough to participate in the SKYWALK as it resonates with our brand of doing new things safely and Living More and Fearing Less. We were delighted that we could play host to the launch of Auckland Cup Week and it’s been fabulous to preview some of the looks that are likely to be on show.”

Paul Wilcox, the CEO of Auckland Racing Club, mirrored Trubuhvich’s sentiments as he expressed his team’s excitement for the upcoming season. “We have seen a huge resurgence in passion for racing this year, so we wanted to do something big and bold to launch our biggest and best week of racing,” added Wilcox. “A huge thanks to all of the designers for taking on the challenge, all of the brave models for being such good sports, and all of our sponsors for their continued support. Auckland Cup Week is set to be a cracker.”
