PHONE A FRIEND

It is said you are the sum of the people closest to you – they form who you are and set the blueprint for who you’ll become. Liam’s designer Emily Miller-Sharma returns with Phone a Friend, the Spring/Summer 2018 collection inspired by friends who have shaped the designer she is today.

The story begins with Laura, the audacious Brazilian and magnetic musician. She reminds Emily to adorn herself a little more, and revel in the moment a little longer. Second is Sally, the assured architect. An artist confident in her own vision, she is the reminder that sometimes the best path to follow is your own.

Phone a Friend is made for women who, like Miller-Sharma, appreciate cut, drape and material. At its base, this collection is a culmination of innovative pattern making, heady textures and trusted silhouettes. Novelty comes in the fabrics: Italian indigo denim, a zing of Caribbean blue and a floral print reminiscent of Art Noveau.

Like something out of an Ophelia painting, Miller-Sharma’s Paisley Park floral print illustrates the landscape for this collection. Muted, a little vintage, and yet somehow completely right, the Park blouse and sleeveless dress bring a moodier floral offering this spring.

The Vince three-piece suit, named after her university sewing teacher, is understated in its detail yet powerful in its boxy, tailored silhouette. A white cupro with black stripes, the ever-versatile pinstripe elevates your suit this spring.

An exercise in panelling, the Vicki blouse and sleeveless midi-dress reinvents the scallop and brings a refreshing spring alternative. With a clean finish and simple fabrication, this season’s scalloped pieces are breath of fresh air.

For the daring dressers, find your match in the Caribbean midi wrap dress and sleeveless pantsuit. Electric in colour, yet wearable in silhouette, make your entrance this spring in a colour unlike any other.

Beautiful, inclusive and just a little bit bold. These are the pieces you can call on when you need a little assurance and inspiration. Like any close friend, Liam has always got your back.
