Thankyou Payroll releases employer guide

Social enterprise Thankyou Payroll, who offer cloud-based software to manage the complexities of payroll, has released an online guide that will make it easier for employers to understand the processes and obligations they have of running payroll in New Zealand.

The website will be available for free, and Thankyou Payroll hopes that the guide will be a good place of reference throughout any business’s payroll journey. The guide details everything from leave entitlements to taxes.

Christina Bellis, CEO of Thankyou Payroll, said, “Payroll can be difficult for employers—especially small companies adding their first employees. But it doesn’t have to be. We’ve created this plain-English guide to help small business owners understand the basics of what payroll entails. This is particularly important with the new obligations for payday filing soon coming into effect which will require more information from employers, more often.”

As of April 1st, the Inland Revenue Department will require all employers to file information about employees, leave entitlements, tax withholdings and more within two days of each payday. Since last year, these have been optional; the new payday filing system will make it compulsory.

The new guide will be particularly useful for small businesses that are not used to the additional reporting requirements of payday filing.

Thankyou Payroll is also offering the opportunity to give back to the community through their Thankyou Charitable Trust.
