Virgil Abloh Premieres new Jewellery Line

Artistic director for Louis Vuitton’s menswear and creative director of Off-White, Virgil Abloh is preparing for the launch of his eponymous jewellery line.

Abloh has seen a great deal of success with his brand Off-White, which combined classic streetwear with sophisticated silhouettes and tailoring. The new accessory line combines the same urban flavour and out of the box design as his previous collections and is being launched alongside new sneaker and handbag designs for Off-White.

The collection includes a selection of earrings and necklaces, styled to look like paper clips tied together. The out of the box designs come inside boxes designed to appear like classic cardboard stationary holders, labelled “Recycled Jumbo Paper Clips”. The design is highly inspired by Abloh’s own iconic style; the artist has been seen wearing paper clip necklaces frequently, before the announcement of this new brand. Despite premiering together, new collection exists as a separate label to the Off-White label although both carry Abloh’s signature eccentricity.

Abloh released a statement discussing the upcoming collection, citing his inspirations and intentions for the designs. “The idea is like high jewellery for all. It’s a crash — it’s a paper clip, but it’s also pavé diamonds made in a very specific way,” said Abloh. The designer has been working on the collection for over three years and will premiere the pieces at a pop-up store in Hôtel Costes from the 17th to 29th of January.
