Bankwest in Australia have begun a trial of wearable payment technology. The bank developed the ideas after brainstorming at one of their annual hack days. The contactless payment solutions are being trialled in a variety of forms - a key fob, a wristband and a watch strap clip. This trial is being undertaken by volunteer participants, who are experimenting with the usability of the options. According to Bankwest, the contactless payment solutions are as secure as a normal eftpos, debit or credit card, and work much the same way as the tap and go features on these.
