Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, the footwear industry had set a new production record. Worldwide footwear production has increased by 21 percent since 2010, with an average yearly growth rate of 2.2 percent.
In 2019, the production growth rate actually decreased, however, it was still enough to determine a new production record of 24.3 billion pairs of shoes that year.
It is likely this record will stay for a few years, especially due to the current climate we live in.
