Global Fashion Collective (GFC), established in 2017, promotes the global exposure of emerging fashion designers by providing them an international platform to showcase their designs. The Fall/Winter 2022 GFC showcase featured up-and-coming designers from Mexico, India, and Korea where the designers showed their style and fashion individuality in their collection. The following international designers found large success: NOLO MX, Sanjukta’s Studio, and FromWhere.
NOLO MX garnered the audience’s attention with their collection “KIDDOS VOL.2”. The designs were iconic and fun, and captured the essence of childhood by bringing back colours, shapes and styles from the early 2000’s. This collection showcased streetwear with bright colours such as pinks, greens, blues, and reds that captivated the audience.
Sanjukta’s Studio mesmerized the audience with their new collection “Alphool”. This collection was inspired by the concept of delicacy that successfully “enhanced femininity and elegance.” The collection featured captivating tranquil blues, puffy sleeves, and accessories, such as purses. Pieces included tulle, embellishments, cascading trains and elaborate patterns.
FromWhere showcased their collection “Coexistence and Confrontation”, which sought to portray the discomfort felt by recent world traumas alongside the feeling of freedom and comfort. It featured contemporary pieces based on classics and incorporated earthy tones such as pale greens, browns, and blues in all pieces. The timeless and exquisite collection was immaculately paired with accessories such as purses, hats, belt bags, and leather boots. The contrast in details, materials, and silhouettes garnered many compliments from the audience.
