TOPSHOP TO OPEN ON QUEEN ST

BRITISH fashion retailer and brand ‘Topshop’ is currently only stocked in New Zealand at Takapuna’s ‘The Department Store’, but will soon be coming to central Auckland! The retailer has secured a location on Queen Street for its new flagship store, with plans for national expansion on the horizon.

New Zealand’s own Karen Walker has partnered with Barkers and Christchurch business man Phillip Carter to form ‘Top Retail’, a company that has bought the rights to own, develop and operate ‘Topshop’ as well as ‘Topman’ across New Zealand.

The store will be 1200 sq m and will carry the full Topshop and Topman ranges and collections, with stock arriving four times a week via air freight. “They put out about 500 new pieces a week,” says Karen Walker. “The makeup, the basics, the swimwear – every single thing they put out will be coming into that store.”

Topshop will be situated at the bottom of Queen Street near Gucci and Louis Vuitton. The lower end of the strip is set to become a high-fashion hub, with Prada and Christian Dior also looking into setting up shop there.
