25 Years Of Dress For Success

Dress for Success Auckland (DfSA) is set to reach a significant milestone this year, celebrating 25 years of empowering women in New Zealand to gain economic independence.

The charity has served more than 24,500 New Zealand women through its readiness, hardship and resilience programmes, providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools.

DfSA will mark its anniversary with a Gala Event at AUT in late June, where guests will be able to enjoy a special exhibition.

The “Empower Her Exhibition” will feature fashion collections from across the last quarter century, the history and critical milestones of DfSA, client stories, an auction, and a runway show showcasing former clients of DfSA alongside professional models.

There will also be presentations from crucial Dress for Success speakers and partners, complimentary drinks and canapes and goody bags packed with products from key sponsors Vanish, Benefit, CACI, Estee Lauder, and Fashion Quarterly to take home.

All the ticket proceeds will help DfSA continue its work, which goes far beyond the clothing supply.

The organisation and its 89 active volunteers, some of whom have been with DfSA since its inception, have helped to assist anyone who identifies as a woman at her point of need.

From helping with CVs to one-on-one coaching, job interviews and providing clothing for court appearances and housing appointments, the DfSA have worked tirelessly to better the lives of women in need.

It also offers a two-year wrap-around career support programme to help women retain employment and advance in their careers.

“Twenty-five years is a huge achievement,” said Robyn Moore, Executive Manager of Dress for Success Auckland.

“It would not have been possible to come this far without the support of our amazing network of people, volunteers, sponsors, donors, staff and our incredible clients. We cannot thank them enough for their contributions over the years.”

Rachel Bainbridge, Head of Brand and Trade Marketing for Vanish, acknowledged the charity’s significant tenure and importance in helping needy women.

“Finding work and keeping it is not easy, especially at these times,” said Bainbridge.

“We need organisations like Dress for Success to support New Zealand women in thriving at work and in life. Vanish is proud to be playing a part in helping to sustain this service.”

Vanish partnered with Dress for Success New Zealand in 2021 and has donated a total of $452,744.42 to support Dress for Success’s work. The company also sponsors and provides marketing support, products, and gift bags for various Dress for Success events, including the 25th anniversary gala event.
