In a landmark collaboration, renowned designer Karen Walker has partnered with Fiji's charitable organisation, Rise Beyond the Reef, to unveil an exclusive line of pandanus bags. This partnership marries Karen Walker's signature blend of sophistication and practicality with traditional Fijian handicrafts, skillfully crafted by women from remote communities.
Founded in 2014, Rise Beyond the Reef is dedicated to supporting rural indigenous Fijian women and their families through sustainable employment avenues. Their handcrafted products not only reflect their ecological, cultural, and social ethos but also advocate for climate-responsible agricultural practices. This partnership significantly boosts the visibility of Pasifika women in both domestic and international markets while preserving their rich cultural heritage.

The collection, a creative fusion of Rise Beyond the Reef and Karen Walker, features a pandanus tote and backpack. These items are meticulously handwoven in Ra Province, a coastal area on Viti Levu’s northern side, demonstrating the local artisans' dedication to eco-friendly craftsmanship. Each stage, from cultivating pandanus to the final touches, is a testament to the community's collaborative spirit. The addition of Karen Walker's contemporary 'Runaway' straps infuses these bags with a modern utility, making them ideal for various settings, from Fiji's tranquil shores to bustling global cities.
