Vintage Hollywood Movies Auction In March

Propstore has revealed that it will be auctioning off 1,700 lots of genuine film and TV memorabilia, making it one of the largest auctions of its kind in the world.

The auction will include a variety of items, such as Sabrina Fairchild's embroidered silk-organza gown from Sabrina (1954), which is estimated to sell for between $100,000 and $200,000, and Moses' Ten Commandments tablets from Cecil B. DeMille's epic The Ten Commandments (1956), which are expected to fetch between $40,000 and $80,000.

Adenoid Hynkel's dress uniform jacket, as seen in the silent star's first talkie, The Great Dictator (1940), will also be up for auction, with an estimated value of between $20,000 and $40,000.

Additionally, personal tuxedos worn by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford, and Sammy Davis Jr. during the era of the Rat Pack are expected to sell for between $20,000 and $40,000.

"There is something to be said about preserving history. As a history lover, I am extremely excited to see the number of vintage costumes in our catalogue. Not only do we have the Rat Pack, I Love Lucy and Ben Hur, but we also have - what I find to be the epitome of iconic vintage film fashion - the Sabrina Fairchild Party dress worn by Audrey Hepburn," said Maegan Hensley, Director of Asset Management at Propstore.

Judah Ben-Hur's distressed slave costume from Ben-Hur (1959) and J.J. "Jake" Gittes' bar costume from the classic neo-noir Chinatown (1974) is also up for grabs, with estimated values of between $15,000 and $30,000 each.

Finally, Captain America Wyatt's Panhead chopper motorcycle from "the ultimate motorcycle movie" Easy Rider (1969) is expected to fetch between $200,000 and $400,000.

"Thanks to the help of collectors and museums for their preservation efforts, Propstore can provide you with these legendary costumes and dresses worn by the various extraordinary talents of the mid-20th century."

Running over three days, from the 12th to the 14th of March 2024, online registration and bidding are currently open, with the in-room bidding open to the public at The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
