90s Summer Romance Inspires Florentina Leitner SS26

Florentina Leitner’s SS26 collection, My Heart Will Go On, celebrated the rush of summer love through a lens of teenage nostalgia.

Drawing inspiration from Harmony Korine’s films Gummo and Spring Breakers, Florentina Leitner showcased a world where innocence met chaos under fluorescent lights.

The designer revisited early 2000s American youth through a playful collaboration with iconic brand Paul Frank. Pop culture characters, Julius the Monkey and Bunny Girl, have been featured across tees, skirts, and accessories, blending irony and cuteness in equal measure.

Merging streetwear and cinematic fantasy, the collection’s main muse was the skater girl. Customised skateboards, oversized hoodies, neon skirts, and printed bikinis showed the carefree energy and rebellious spirit of the '90s teenager.

Glossy textures and laser-cut leather detailing added a polished edge, while Hawaiian florals evoked sunny escapes. Bunny ears were a nod to Gummo, turning outsider aesthetics into fashion’s newest statement.

Fluorescent pinks, acid greens, and electric blues clashed against denim, washed greys, and dotted blacks, mirroring the tension between rebellion and romance.

Accessories heightened the playful chaos with monkey-shaped backpacks, neon bow clips, and braided keychains.

The jewellery collaboration with Melted Potato added an incredible energy, featuring oversized hoops, monkeys, and tropical blooms that capture the sugary essence of young love.

My Heart Will Go On is a dreamy ode to a young summer romance, late-night adventures, the rebellion of youth, and the memory of loves that burn bright and vanish fast, yet remain unforgettable.
