SKIMS, the global fashion brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede, will be available in New Zealand for the first time.
As the first fashion brand to be revealed for Faradays, SKIMS has set the tone for the new store, which will cater to all price points, with affordable lines with items starting at NZD 35.
Founded in 2019, SKIMS has become one of the most culturally influential fashion brands globally, redefining modern essentials through technically constructed underwear, shapewear, loungewear, and swim designed for every body.
Grede said that bringing SKIMS to New Zealand for the first time through Faradays marked an exciting milestone in the brand’s continued international expansion.
“Faradays’ distinctive point of view and strong connection to the local customer on Queen Street make them the ideal partner to introduce SKIMS to the market while delivering an experience that feels consistent with our global brand vision.”
Faradays Creative Director, Constance von Dadelszen, had been in conversation with the SKIMS team for months and described the brand as one of the most culturally relevant brands in the world right now, saying it will sit alongside over 100 exceptionally strong yet-to-be-announced names.
What ultimately resonated with them was that Faradays is not a conventional retail proposition.
“We are building a new breed of department store, one rooted in experience and service, with a roster of activations, events and an ecosystem of content that means a brand can be experienced well beyond the four walls of the store," said von Dadelszen.
"For SKIMS, that mattered. They weren’t looking for just another stockist, they were looking for a partner who understood how to bring a brand to life in a market, and I think they found that in us.”
Scheduled to open at 131 Queen Street as part of a NZD 30 million refurbishment of the old Milne & Choyce building, the new Faradays department store on Queen Street is set to open in August 2026.
