Onitsuka Tiger Opens Two Flagship Stores in Japan

Onitsuka Tiger has opened its world’s largest flagship store in Shinjuku and another one near Nagoya Station.

As Onitsuka Tiger continues to position its stores as places where visitors can experience the brand's values and story, these new stores embody both heritage and innovation.

Shinjuku

The concept of a “vertical narrative” lies at the heart of the Shinjuku store, blending materials, colours, and the design cultures of Japan and Italy. Each floor presents a different selection of materials and aesthetics, guiding visitors through a spatial experience that unfolds the brand’s story.

From the façade to the sophisticated, serene space on the top floor, each level expresses Onitsuka Tiger’s unique identity by blending Japanese craftsmanship, an homage to Italian design, and the energy of the modern city.

The exterior features a bold, Tiger-Yellow concrete façade, conceived as a monolith standing within the urban landscape. By combining smooth surfaces with striped textures, the design conveys integrity in materials, rhythm, and precision, a tribute to Japanese artisanal excellence and Tokyo’s vibrant urbanity.

Spanning four floors and 1,837 square meters, the Shinjuku store has united the entire brand portfolio under one roof. The mezzanine has the brand’s first-ever amusement area, offering an exclusive retail experience.

The first floor welcomes visitors with a striking interplay of bold materials and colours. The combination of black flooring and warm Giallo Siena marble expresses the brand’s signature palette with both dynamism and sophistication.

The essential lines and tactile surfaces reflect the aesthetic of Japanese design, while the black-and-yellow contrast creates a modern, vibrant atmosphere.

The second floor reveals a more graphic aesthetic, anchored by black terrazzo with a distinctive grainy texture, accented with touches of yellow. Light lends rhythm and depth to the space, evoking the movement at the brand’s core.

In the area dedicated to the globally acclaimed NIPPON MADE series, furniture inspired by 1970s Italian design is featured, a blend of warmth, individuality, and timeless craftsmanship that underscores the brand’s contemporary sensibility.

The third floor is a space filled with tranquillity and refinement, inspired by the quiet elegance of Japanese interiors. Rosso Lepanto marble, satin brass, and fine-brushed stainless steel create a refined material contrast. Geometric forms harmonise with gallery-like displays, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the brand’s iconic collections.

Nagoya Station

The area around Nagoya Station has become a major regional gateway and can be described as the face of the city.

Onitsuka Tiger has positioned Nagoya as a new key location in the Tokai and Chubu regions, and will develop the store as a place where visitors can experience not only its products, but also the craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibility behind the brand.

The store unites the entire brand portfolio under one roof and draws on Nagoya’s cultural sophistication and its strength as an industrial hub.

Comprising two floors, the store further expanded the brand’s identity through a design language rooted in refined combinations of materials, precision, rhythm, and contemporary expression.

The first floor is designed as an open and fluid space. Terrazzo and steel form a neutral yet sophisticated backdrop, enhancing product visibility while encouraging a natural flow through the store.

Suspended overhead, luminous boxes reminiscent of traditional Japanese “andon” lanterns create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, enriching the space's depth and impression.

The second floor shifts into a more intimate, serene atmosphere. Rosso Lepanto marble is the focal point of the space, with surfaces that function as both displays and sculptural elements. The combination of marble and steel creates a warm, immersive environment that invites visitors to explore at a relaxed pace.

As the brand's largest global flagship store, bringing together all its categories under one roof, Onitsuka Tiger offers visitors from around the world a new brand experience.
