Huntsman Secures Approval

Global chemical company Huntsman has achieved bluesign® approval for ten of its IROGRAN® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) products, which are widely used in the textile and apparel industry.

These materials, part of Huntsman's IROGRAN film and sheet portfolio, enhance the production, performance, and comfort of stitchless and seamless garments like underwear, sportswear, and waterproof clothing.

bluesign is a renowned sustainability solutions provider that ensures environmentally sound practices and products throughout the textile value chain. Products bearing the bluesign APPROVED label meet strict ecological and toxicological standards. For textile and apparel manufacturers, this third-party endorsement reduces the time and cost of researching and testing products to confirm their environmental credentials.

The bluesign APPROVED IROGRAN products enable the creation of stitchless and waterproof garments that are both practical and stylish. Designed for barrier and adhesive film applications, these TPUs combine abrasion and friction resistance with elasticity and a soft touch. They also offer strength and temperature flexibility, ensuring a high-performance, seamless finish.

"bluesign is a hallmark of quality that actively changes the impact that textiles have on the planet," said Dr Anja Weismann, Global Materials & Industry Sustainability Senior Lead at Huntsman Polyurethanes.

"We are delighted our polyurethanes business has qualified so many products, reinforcing our commitment to responsible and sustainable manufacturing."

"Huntsman is a trusted bluesign SYSTEM PARTNER with an excellent track record," added Michael Sabo, Head of Chemical Services at bluesign. We are pleased to certify its IROGRAN TPU products, ensuring they are non-hazardous and produced sustainably."

Huntsman continues its bluesign journey, working to qualify more systems for textile and apparel applications. As a bluesign SYSTEM PARTNER since 2022, Huntsman demonstrates responsible resource use, continuous improvement in environmental performance, and the highest safety standards for people and the environment.
