Swanndri has long been one of the most trusted labels for outerwear and is this year celebrating 110 years.
Known for its iconic pattern, Swanndri has become an iconic, home-grown brand since its introduction in 1913. Many early garments, such as the original bush shirt with lace front, are still being produced today, remaining the same since 1927.
The milestone occasion is marked with plans for new projects, such as a collaboration with Feldon Shelter rooftop tents, the ‘roll end’ project to help close the loop on fabric waste and a limited edition range of products.
The 2023 Autumn Winter collection has also been unveiled, showcasing a focus on three significant fabrications: canvas, oilskin, and wool. Rugged new urban-inspired designs in all three fabrications are included in the collection to be easily transferable from the high country to the high streets with a sustainable focus in mind.
The wool used in Swanndri jackets is produced by the ZQRX programme, which has ensured a gold standard in wool growing worldwide. It emphasises animal welfare, regenerative agriculture practices, and carbon sequestration on farms.
A new rainwear collection is also appearing in the collection, made from 100 percent recycled fibres, yet still lightweight, packable, completely waterproof, and breathable.
Last but not least, the 110th celebrations are marked by the opening a new retail store. The Willis Street store in Wellington’s CBD opened in March.
