London Fashion Week Welcomes Rory William Docherty

Celebrated New Zealand designer Rory William Docherty has announced his upcoming debut at London Fashion Week in September 2025.

This has marked a pivotal moment in his career and a major international step for the brand. The milestone followed two transformative years for Docherty, who began with his showing at New Zealand Fashion Week: Kahuria in 2023.

His distinctive aesthetic and refined storytelling caught the attention of audiences and industry alike. That momentum carried him through to Australian Fashion Week in 2024, further solidifying his presence as a designer to watch.

“Waking up to a Vogue Runway review brought me to tears. It was a moment I’ll never forget,” he said.

“To be included in Moda Operandi’s ‘Best of Australian Fashion Week’, and to begin a retail partnership with iconic U.S. store McMullen, was beyond anything I had imagined. I’m so grateful to the Australian fashion industry and the global community who embraced the collection with such warmth.”

Since then, Docherty’s star has continued to rise. In 2024, he was named Fashion Quarterly’s Fashion Designer of the Year, and he recently took on the role of costume designer for the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s work Chrysalis, bringing his unique vision to the world of performance and dance.

“I’m incredibly humbled to be showing at London Fashion Week.

Docherty added that it has been a powerful journey, beginning with NZFW: Kahuria, where he felt a deep sense of grounding and possibility. The support he received from the New Zealand fashion industry has been instrumental at every step.

“I wouldn’t be here without that creative community, and I’m deeply grateful.”

Known for his meticulous craftsmanship and emotionally resonant designs, Rory William Docherty has continued to push boundaries while staying rooted in authenticity and artistic integrity.

His upcoming collection in London promises to be a defining moment both personally and professionally. He is also delighted to be part of NZFW again this year, with a week-long pop-up installation at Britomart.
