Nature-Inspired Rug Collection

Debuting at Auckland Design Week, renowned artist and biophilic designer Miranda Brown has teamed up with Heritage Carpets for a fresh and bold collection. The Nature Collection consists of a range of New Zealand wool rugs designed to promote wellness and connection with the environment.

Both companies are passionate about sustainability, designing the range while keeping these shared values in mind.

Brown’s nature-inspired design tells visual stories that reflect New Zealand’s culture and natural heritage. The carpets bring an aura of calmness into space, with rich greens and blues adding dimension to living spaces.

For the last two decades, Brown has seen herself as a leader in the sustainable design movement in New Zealand. She is driven by regenerative design principles that protect nature and life.

The Nature Collection features three core designs in four colourways in rugs and roll carpets. The styles are Emerald Garden, Universal Connection, and Seed in both round and rectangular shapes.

There is a custom colour option for these existing designs and a fully bespoke design service where interior designers can co-create rugs with Miranda and Heritage Carpets.

Brown says that her art is about connecting people to the beauty of nature, enhancing well-being, and inspiring people to care for our natural world.

“My focus is the flora and fauna of Aotearoa and the patterns held within nature's design known as sacred geometry.”

Managing Director of Heritage Carpets, Umesh Dayal says, “We have been focussed on one-off custom rugs until we met Miranda. Her immense energy and creative flair meant it was not a hard decision to pursue a collaboration. This range moves Heritage Carpets into another realm; offering the professional design services of an extraordinary local artist means we can connect and align our product offering with the flora and fauna of New Zealand.”
