For several years, Jennie has been part of the adidas family, and the arrival of the first adidas Originals by Jennie collection has deepened her role as a co-designer and true creative author.
Framed through the concept of ‘Functional Grace’, the collection has reinterpreted adidas’ performance-inspired functionality through Jennie’s distinct aesthetic perspective.
Beyond homage or pastiche, ballet has served as the inspirational starting point, while its codes were brought into an altogether more expansive, surreal realm. In each piece, Jennie has expressed quiet confidence, timeless sophistication, and a futuristic vision of modern femininity through a harmonious collision of influences and references.
Jennie said that she wanted to reinterpret the classic identity of adidas Originals through her own perspective and energy. Her goal was to bring together the softness and restraint found in ballet, as well as the strength behind it, with the feeling of an endless and unknown space.
“I focused on creating an overall mood that feels timeless yet forward-facing- cinematic and surreal, with a quiet but powerful presence.”
The lineup includes the ballet pointe shoe-inspired Superstar SQ Ballet, alongside reimagined adidas track tops and track pants, layering T-shirts, wrap skirts, knit wrap cardigans, sheer sleeveless bodysuits, sheer leggings, polar fleece half-zip hoodies, and more.
The Superstar SQ Ballet reimagines the iconic adidas Superstar through the delicate form of a ballet pointe shoe. Crafted with a premium leather upper and soft lambskin lining, its silhouette features a squared toe and refined ribbon detailing with removable laces for versatile styling.
Soft-touch premium materials and considered detailing allow effortless transition between everyday wear and the street, while accessories including high-knit leg warmers and cut-out socks ensure Jennie’s attitude and sensibility remain as a red thread throughout.
Through the campaign imagery, Jennie’s full creative vision came to life in a dreamlike, surreal environment inspired by the vast expanse of the cosmos.
Under the concept ‘Cosmic Ballerina: Kinematics,’ movements that transcend the boundaries of gravity capture the beauty of the human form and a sense of free-spirited energy. Here, ballet transcended the studio, becoming a physical metaphor for strength, power, and possibility.
The adidas Originals by Jennie FW26 collection is available in select adidas stores, online, and select retailers starting the 1st of September.
