SHOWCASING IN PARIS

Having come a long way from creating bags out of leather scraps in 2005, Deadly Ponies founder and creative director has built a booming luxury New Zealand brand which is set to showcase at the Tranoi Paris Women’s fashion expo in September and October.

The collection Deadly Ponies will showcase, Yingo Yango, is the first dual-season collection from the brand and is focussed on the notion of duality while being a range that can sell into both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere simultaneously.

“For us, it has always been about ensuring that we tackled the Northern Hemisphere at the right time. After ten years in business, and a great footing in Australasia, it feels like that time is now,” said Liam Bowden, creative director, Deadly Ponies.

While at Tranoi Paris, the brand is looking to pick up premium stockists while representing quality New Zealand design. It is a time of expansion for the company, which is looking into both the French and general European markets as potential permanent areas, alongside an interest in selling to Japan.

“We recently signed with a Japanese PR agency as it is another territory we are focussing on this year. It’s an exciting time in the world of Deadly Ponies,” said Bowden.

Tranoi Paris Women’s will be held from 30 September to 3 October 2016 at the Cite de la Mode et du Design, Carrousel du Louvre, and Palais de la Bourse.
