The Dowse Art Museum played host to the official opening of New Zealand Eco Fashion Week on Tuesday, with scores of guests arriving in style to celebrate eco friendly fashion design in New Zealand.
“Fashion is an ever-changing expression of personal identity. Unfortunately modern fashion is often disposable fashion, which has a negative impact on our environment,” said Lower Hutt Mayor, Ray Wallace.
The opening is the first in a series of events focussed on sustainable fashion, including runway shows and pop up stores across Hutt City.
“Eco Fashion Week addresses this disposable attitude, and opens our eyes to the environmental consequences of fast fashion with a positive solution,” said Wallace.
The week will wrap up on Saturday, with limited tickets to various events still available through ecofashionweek.nz
