Through Digital Eyes

As we enter yet another hellish year for the retail sector, it is essential to look forward, not backwards. However, it is hard to believe that the fashion industry will ever be the same.

Perhaps that’s not the terrifying prospect it first appeared to be two years ago. Adaptation is an essential part of the human ability to survive. One of the silver linings of the COVID-19 pandemic has been witnessing the incredible agility of the sector to reimagine itself under the harshest conditions.

From pivoting bricks and mortar to e-commerce, embracing online zoom consultations and digital experiences, Kiwi ingenuity has continuously taken the COVID-19 bull by the horns.

There has also been incredible generosity from businesses within the sector and neighbouring industries wishing to help each other through these challenging times. We have seen this first-hand with the number of designers and retailers working together to help each other through the worst economic conditions of their lifetime.

The decision to publish the Apparel Trade Directory for 2022 was difficult, for we too are at the mercy of the challenges of the pandemic. However, we decided to proceed and thank those businesses who have supported us.

As Henry Ford said, “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.”

We wish everyone a strong will, good friends, and the support of many in 2022.
