Belkin Revolutionising Its Products

Celebrating 40 years of industry-leading products, Belkin introduced a new material refresh for its top-selling portable power products. Belkin has been developing this product for two years as an established global consumer electronics leader. It is projected to save an estimated 7,000 metric tons of carbon emissions and reduce CO-eq levels by up to 67 percent.

Belkin is well on its way to becoming 100 percent carbon neutral by 2025. The company’s most popular wireless chargers, power banks, wall chargers, and car chargers are to receive the updated fresh material comprising 73-75 percent post-consumer recycled plastics (PCR) and plastic-free packaging. While focused on reviewing all areas of the business’s products, Belkin aims to reduce single-use plastic in packaging.

The methodical decision to transition product material to PCR is part of Belkin’s vision of taking plastic waste away from consumers and repurposing it into other products. Reutilising plastic destined for landfill is one way that Belkin works to minimise the world’s dependence on virgin plastics.

The Life Cycle Assessment conducted by the company demonstrates how using PCR material significantly minimises harmful impacts on the environment.

Steve Malony, CEO of Belkin, explained his pride in their sustainability work.

“When we think about the difference a company of our size and influence can make on the planet, moving away from using virgin plastics in our products is an obvious decision. I am proud to work alongside the teams that made this shared vision a reality. Their dedication to doing the right thing inspires me, and together, we will continue to work towards a more sustainable future.”
