Deadly Ponies Debuts New Gansu Slide For Summer

After the success of its first footwear launch in July, Ponies is welcoming summer with the launch of its new Gansu Slide.

Inspired by The Flying Horse of Gansu, a 2nd century CE bronze statue from the Chinese province of Gansu, Deadly Ponies has crafted a slide using lamb leather and textured bovine leather, which is fitted over a moulded rubber sole.

The slide's timeless silhouette features three bands of lamb leather wrapped around to create the twisted upper, experimenting with symmetry while still providing comfort and durability of wear. The Gansu slide comes in two classic neutral colourways - black and nougat and is only available for a limited run.

Creative Director at Deadly Ponies, Liam Bowden, stated that the brand wants to create footwear that can become everyone's wardrobe staples, using sumptuous and sustainable leather in unique and classic designs.

Established by Bowden in 2005, Deadly Ponies specialises in creating leather accessories using high-quality materials. Its footwear is designed in-house, drawing inspiration from the art and natural world, and constructed by the brand's partner in Dongguan, China. The brand's other leather accessories are handcrafted in an eco-atelier in Chang Mai, Thailand.

Deadly Ponies aims to be the world's most responsible handbag brand. It is currently certified by Toitu Environcare to be carbon-zero.
