Emma Lewisham Secures Major Win at Marie Claire Sustainability Awards

Luxury skincare brand Emma Lewisham won the "Best Progress Towards Circularity" prize at the UK Marie Claire Skincare Awards.

The Best Progress Towards Circularity award is given to the company that has taken the most significant action in operating using a circular business model instead of the linear take-make-waste model.

The B Corp-certified skincare label has taken commendable steps to centre sustainability in all areas of operation.

In 2021, the Toitū Envirocare's Climate Positive Product Certification announced that Emma Lewisham was the world's first verified carbon-positive beauty brand.

All of Emma Lewisham's products are circular-designed and refillable through the Emma Lewisham Beauty Circle programme. When customers purchase a refill pod or pouch, rather than a brand-new product, they reduce their carbon emissions by up to 74%.

The company recycles pods and pouches that cannot be sterilised or reused through TerraCycle.

Emma Lewisham's sustainable intellectual property for its circular designed product packaging and climate-positive business model was publicly released, encouraging its small and large competitors to capitalise on its investment and kick-off widespread change within the beauty industry.

The beauty brand also earned the personal endorsement of renowned ethologist and environmentalist Dr Jane Goodall.

The Marie Claire Skin Awards were designed to recognise premium brands that are leading the way in sustainable beauty and product innovation.

Founder Emma Lewisham said that "to be recognised amongst the other globally renowned nominees s astounding and a true testament to the industry-leading work we're doing at Emma Lewisham. Since our inception, I have been determined to set a new benchmark in scientifically proven natural skincare and sustainable skincare".

Lewisham is committed to using business as a force for good - to tackle problems, find solutions and leave behind something better for future generations.

"Profits should never come at an expense to people or the planet, and I'm proud to be building a business that proves sustainability and success can go hand-in-hand."
