Wilson Parking will be providing free weekend parking nationwide for the month of October.
Wilson Parking is paying it forward this month, to help boost New Zealand’s economy by encouraging us to get out and about to support local businesses.
Wilson Parking is New Zealand’s largest car park operator and has partnered with ParkMate in this ‘Pay it Forward’ campaign to give New Zealander’s four complimentary 12-hour parking sessions that can be used throughout consecutive weekends from October 10th until November 1st 2020.
“Our Pay it Forward campaign is about giving back to our customers and local communities by supporting Kiwi’s to shop with their local businesses across the country,” explained Ryan Orchard, CEO of Wilson Parking.
“We understand that the impact of this year’s recession is yet to be fully felt, so we wanted to do our part by softening some of that blow as money potentially gets tighter for consumers and businesses. We think it is a win-win for shoppers and the businesses they choose to spend with.”
Wilson Parking is among the many businesses that are hit hard by the economic downturn of COVID-19. The company’s nationwide weekend parking volume was down more than 65 percent in June 2020, in comparison to the same period in 2019.
“We all know how tough this year has been for retailers, so a free parking offer is an affordable and effective way to spur on consumers to get out and shop with businesses in their area,” said Greg Harford, CEO of Retail NZ.
“This is a great gesture from Wilson Parking to encourage people to come out and support local businesses. Providing free parking is bound to be a hit as we head into Level One and longer, warmer days. We hope that people make the most of this offer,” said Viv Beck, CEO of Heart of the City.
