Danish womenswear brand Ganni has been awarded B Corp certification for its sustainability efforts, reinforcing its commitment to being a responsible business.
B Corp certification is awarded to businesses meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.
Certification requires a B Impact Assessment score of more than 80 points. Ganni received 90.6 points, with thanks to its sustained efforts toward using certified organic, lower-impact and recycled fibres.
Ganni was required to answer more than 300 questions concerning every area of the company across the five impact areas including governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
The brand has set a goal to reach 150 B Corp points by 2025 by rolling out a carbon insetting scheme, scaling innovative fabrics, and investing further in circular business models. Patagonia is the only brand to so far have achieved this score.
Founder Nicolaj Reffstrup has looked for industry-wide auditing for years, as sustainability initiatives are still largely unregulated. B Corp offers a tangible and transparent framework for keeping businesses accountable and setting industry benchmarks.
“Becoming certified is a testament to all the work our team continuously puts into this journey of becoming the most responsible version of ourselves,” said Ganni founder Nicolaj Reffstrup.
