Orbit is a new online marketplace that sells curated second hand clothing.

The platform was launched by three Auckland-based brothers, who decided to utilise their five years of experience in buying and selling vintage clothing by offering a curated service for pre-loved clothing. Orbit exclusively sells second hand pieces that have been approved by the team, ensuring that their marketplace has a range of rare, vintage and premium brand items.

Orbit aims to make purchasing second hand items more accessible and provide an easy route to the market for Kiwi entrepreneurs who are interested in selling vintage clothing.

"If anyone has an item of clothing that they think could be valuable, all they need is a bank account or PayPal account and an email address to create a profile on Orbit. Selling is simple as."

According to an estimates from the Boston Consulting group, the second hand market for clothing and accessories is currently worth 100 to 120 billion dollars worldwide and  estimated to grow 20 to 30 percent per year.

They are also committed to keeping clothing out of New Zealand rubbish dumps. It is estimated that the country currently sends 45,000 tonnes of clothing into its landfills.

Mags, the youngest of the brothers behind Orbit, concluded that "the best clothes have already been made, worn and loved. There is no need to buy new clothes."
