New Zealand fashion designer Claudia Li recently collaborated with Manuka honey brand, Comvita to bring exciting new additions to her Fall 2022 range. Known for dressing public figures Michelle Obama and Kendall Jenner, Li's inspiration for these designs came from elements of Comvita’s work, such as the flowers of the manuka tree. Within her Fall 2022 collection, Li worked closely with Comvita to deliver bespoke packaging and custom beekeeper suits.

The importance of heritage was a key fundamental for Li and Comvita during the collaboration process, and drawing ideas from these values was vital when creating something forward-thinking. Li described this collection as a juxtaposition of opposites – the past and present. The work is quintessential to her heritage exploration and showcases her talent in blending the then and now.

Comvita has been providing premium-quality honey to the world since 1974. Representing this rich history is at the core of Comvita’s work, making their connection with Li an exciting endeavour.

‘Honey Bags’ were one of the new additions to the Fall 2022 collection, designed specifically to carry Comvita’s jars of Manuka honey. The packaging, with custom prints, was inspired by Li’s collection, as mentioned earlier, where she developed unique patterns from floral elements.

With the potential to create more self-expression in the workplace, Li created beekeeper suits for Comvita. By reenvisioning their character, Li gave an exciting refresh to the style and colour of the suits.

From being two seemingly very different brands in contrasting industries, Comvita and Li demonstrate creativity in refreshing and bold ways. Their collaboration is an exciting step toward new ideas in the world of artistry and fashion.
