New Zealand Fashion Week: Kahuria has announced its runway schedule and programme of events.
The fashion week, featuring more than 30 shows, will showcase a diverse range of designers, including Māori and Pasifika designers, providing a platform for local and international buyers to discover exceptional talent.
Selected runway shows will also be live-streamed on the NZFW website, allowing fashion enthusiasts worldwide to join. In addition to trade shows, people can buy tickets to consumer runway shows, events and industry panel discussions.
"After a three-year hiatus we are thrilled to showcase a truly wonderful collection of established and emerging creative talents from around Aotearoa on Auckland’s waterfront, with an event that has a bold vision to showcase inclusivity, innovation, and creativity," said Yasmin Farry, General Manager of New Zealand Fashion Week: Kahuria.
Award-winning designer, Kiri Nathan, will kick off the programme on the first day with a show looking at Māori fashion through the ages. Rory William Docherty, Jacqueline-Anne, Campbell Luke, Juliette Hogan, and NOM*d will follow this.
Day two will open with a Graduate Show featuring emerging designer talent from Whitecliffe, Otago Polytechnic and Massey University, followed by Kathryn Wilson’s 20-year celebration and Kharl WiRepa’s couture collection.
The next day sees Viva Next Gen designers, Jockey and a Miromoda Group Show before Kate Sylvester’s 30th-anniversary show in the evening.
Liz Mitchell, Pacific Fusion Fashion Show and the Resene Designer Runway will present on day four. The Ministry of Social Development will also conduct a “Moving the Dial on Diversity” session in the NZFW Discussion Series.
‘Fashion Night’, a new addition to the programme, will focus on the promotion of an inclusive and diverse environment for emerging talent and a glimpse from underground labels such as One of None, Nineteen99, and The House of VA, along with entertaining performances from The Dance Plant Collective, ANDYHEARTTROB, MaeSteal Collective.
The event will end with Walk the Line, I Love Ponsonby, Tangaroa Te Ihi Moana - The Sea is Rising, and others on the last day.
NZFW will take place at the Viaduct Events Centre from the 29th of August to the 2nd of September 2023. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, the 20th of July.
This weeklong extravaganza is in partnership with brands like Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, Millennium Hotels and Resorts, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Savor Group, and Lemon, Lime and Butter.
