Skechers is stepping into the metaverse. The global leader in the lifestyle footwear industry has announced it is opening an experiential store in the Fashion District of Decentraland.
Skechers has filed trademark applications throughout the virtual world to sell footwear and apparel, such as the Sketchers, Bobs, GoWalk, ArchWalk, and Twinkle Toes brands.
“Our Decentraland agreement is an investment in our future. We look forward to embarking on this virtual era, and exploring creative ways for our brand to engage with new customers and audiences as we launch the new Skechers experience,” said Michael Greenberg, President of Skechers.
The company has leased around 5,000 square feet on the virtual estate property owned by Metaverse Group to explore potential growth opportunities in the metaverse.
Skechers surpassed revenue of US$6.29 billion in 2021 and is forecasted to reach US$10 billion in annual sales by 2026.
