Australia’s leading natural skincare brand, Sukin, has today announced that its portfolio of products is now Leaping Bunny Approved by Cruelty Free International.
The approval is testament to Sukin’s commitment to ensuring no animal testing occurs at any stage of a product's development, from ingredients and formulations, to finished products.
Sukin was developed with a vision to make sustainable and ethical beauty the norm, by providing widely accessible quality natural skincare that is carbon offset, cruelty free and vegan. Sukin believes that green beauty is the future of the industry and that everyone should feel safe and confident in the products they put on their body.
“Sukin is proud to be approved as cruelty free under the globally recognisable gold standard, Leaping Bunny Programme. We have worked hard for many months with Cruelty Free International to reach this significant milestone,” said Virginia Woodger, Sukin’s Global Marketing Director. “This approval complements our other sustainability and ethical pillars such as natural, vegan formulations, our carbon offset strategy, and our partnerships with Terracycle and Greening Australia. We will continue to strive to lead the green beauty movement through sustainable, natural and ethical products and innovation.”
Cruelty Free International’s Leaping Bunny Programme is the globally recognised gold standard for cruelty free cosmetics, personal care, household and cleaning products. The requirements go well beyond simply restricting animal testing. The Leaping Bunny Programme is the only cruelty free approval that requires a supplier monitoring system to be implemented by the brand. Brands also face supply chain checking, adherence to a fixed cut-off date policy and ongoing independent audits to ensure compliance.
In order for Sukin to be approved, a forensic investigation of the entire supply chain was undertaken and involved obtaining extensive information on over 200 ingredients from over 40 suppliers.
“We are delighted to award Leaping Bunny Programme approval to Sukin. They have always been proud of their commitment to kinder science, and now Sukin has undergone the rigorous process towards Leaping Bunny Programme approval to illustrate that commitment. Congratulations and welcome to the Leaping Bunny family,” said Michelle Thew, CEO of Cruelty Free International.
Since 2017, there has been a 190% increase in brands enquiring about approval from the Leaping Bunny Programme, demonstrating that consumer demand for cruelty free products is impacting how brands operate.
