Originally created in 1959, the small troll-inspired doll became a hit in the USA in the early 1960's. After a short hiatus the quickly became popular again in the 70's and continued to be popular through to the late 1990's. During this time, many manufacturers made knockoff versions of the Trolls under different names. In the late 90's there were several video games and a show based on the Trolls dolls. In 2010, Dreamworks Animation announced they were working on a feature film on the dolls and were planning for it to hit cinemas in late 2016.
