ART AND FASHION COLLIDE

Auckland artist and AUT graduate, Evan Woodruffe, has teamed up with the AUT Textile and Design Lab to bring his artwork into the world of apparel.

Woodruffe utilised the technology AUT has available to translate his vision into garments worn at an exhibition at the Auckland Art Fair.

“[The art is] a baroque condition of the modern world, an unstable world in motion, where we exist both off-line locally and on-line globally almost simultaneously,” said Woodruffe.

A body suit was made from viscose/spandex, a corset from stretch denim, and a flowing cape from silk georgette.

“The audience was amazed by the colours and detail that the TDL had transferred from his painting to the different fabrics, and the lab was great to work with,” said Woodruffe.
