Since starting to design and create garments as a young girl, Anoushka Van Rijn was convinced that was the industry for her.
She is now a Spiritual Connector through Devine Creativity and is on a mission to inspire people to embrace and celebrate their unique authentic selves.
Van Rijn said that she is currently focused on shifting her brand’s aesthetic and practises.
“My brand's values and design process have always had ethereal and spiritual practices behind them. I want my customers to be a part of this spiritual design process to make each design even more personalised than it was before,” she said.
Van Rijn now offers a service to her clients called ‘Tea and Tarot’ readings, where clients can either book a ‘Tea and Tarot’ reading just as is, or she provides ‘Tea and Tarot’ readings with the custom design process in place.
“This process brings in each customer's own spiritual guides they are connected to, so we can design and create a piece that is not only aesthetically appealing for each customer, but so they can develop a strong energetic connection with their custom piece.”
At the age of 13, Van Rijn started going to second-hand shops and finding unique pieces with the pocket money she had. She said this taught her to be creative with little amounts of money.
“I had to transform nothing into something from my internal creative mind. This is how I built my sense of style, design, values and character when it came to beauty.”
When sourcing her inspiration, Van Rijn said that it can stem from many creative outputs, such as connection, people, love, spirituality, and astrology. She also relies on nature as a big source of inspiration for her, especially the ocean. Travelling is also something she enjoys doing, citing that exploring other cultures is a big part of her design process.
Her latest collection is called “Goddess of Love."
“The Goddess of Love designs are about connecting with your inner Goddess. Learning to connect with oneself on a deeper level. Unapologetically embracing all aspects of self, unconditionally loving that part of yourself so you can bring that to the world around you.”
Working on this collection has been a part of her own self-love journey, as well as being one of the core values of her brand.
Van Rijn encourages anyone to pursue a fashion career if they have a passion for it. She added that the most important things to remember are to trust your vision and to trust yourself.
“Try to not compare yourself to others. Only seek knowledge and guidance from those around you to expand your vision. Know that not everyone is going to understand your vision and sense of creativity. This is a good thing as this rejection is only redirection to the people, places and things that are in alignment with your true creative calling.”
Anoushka Van Rijn said that having a team who supports her is a vital key to success.
“I have been a part of creating some very special and exciting new projects with some like-minded women around me. Always creating and developing my spiritual connection and practices is a big part of my creative journey.”
