In the latest of a long line of luxury fashion/video game crossovers, Dior collaborated with Gran Turismo 7 to design a digital collection of special race gear, and a car skin for the video game.
None of the Dior x GT7 clothing will be produced physically, though the design process was no less involved than the creative labour involved in bringing a mainline Dior collection to life. Dior’s team lay out silhouettes of the exact garments they wished for Gran Turismo 7’s developers, Polyphony Digital, to create in-game.
The collection features thematic helmets, Oblique monogram-covered sneakers, a jumpsuit and gloves.
The fashion house merged house codes with actual racing tech, executing the gear in Dior grey with a contrasting yellow to unify the design. A number ‘47’ printed on the chest, hand, and head pays subtle homage to the year that Dior was officially founded.
The collection also references Dior’s archival CD Diamond pattern, including a classic Dior atelier patch to drive the motif home.
The collaboration is available for the PlayStation game on August 25.
